SNRE's Papuga Lab group sweeps the awards at 6th Annual PROSE Symposium

On October 12, 2012 the USA National Phenology Network (USA-NPN) & SW Region, American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (SW-ASPRS) hosted the Sixth Annual Phenology Research and Observations of Southwest Ecosystems (PROSE) Symposium on the UA campus.  The first, second and third place student poster awards were swept by the Papuga Lab group.   While generally considered a graduate research competition, both the first and second place poster awards were awarded to undergraduate researchers in the Papuga Lab: Jessica Swetish took first place for her work entitled "Influence of Understory Greenness on Trace Gas and Energy Exchange in Forested Ecosystems"; Evan Kipnis took second place for his work entitled "Insights on Ecohydrological Controls of Phenological Events in Larrea Tridentata through Continuous Monitoring using Digital Cameras".  Finally, PhD student Maria Pilar Cendrero Mateo (SWES graduate student co-advised by Papuga and Moran) took third place for her work entitled "Steady-State Chlorophyll Fluorescence (Fs) as a Tool to Monitor Plant Drought Stress".  Congratulations Jessica, Evan, and Maria!
