Our faculty conduct research aimed at the sustainable use of water resources while preserving aquatic ecosystems and the myriad roles water plays in our environment. In part, our work creates and implements plans, projects, and programs that improve watershed function in degraded basins. Our research touches a broad spectrum of people and places because of the linkages between land use, soil, and water, and upstream and downstream areas. Therefore, we work with and provide research to landowners, land use agencies, stormwater management experts, environmental specialists, and local communities to help achieve mutually desired goods and services without harming our water resources and the ecosystems that depend on them.
