Data science as a (natural) resource

Abstract:

Data science is changing the landscape of what science can do across disciplines. But what, really, is data science, especially for those of us who don’t feel like doing linear algebra in our heads? With an introduction to data science practices, I will demonstrate how data science can be integrated into a biological research program. We will talk about some common terms, demystify others, and learn what Van Halen has to do with data science. There will also be prizes.
