Remote sensing provides key environmental data to decision-makers in Arizona and across the globe. Our faculty employ a variety of tools – from satellites to geospatial information technologies – to gather data and develop metrics and models that can help us understand earth’s ecological, hydrological, and climatic responses and changes. This work is always crucial, but especially given our rapidly changing climate. The research is used by land managers to examine patterns in forest and rangeland health, wildlife habitat, and the impact of drought, wildfire, and disease on our landscapes. It also helps us identify vulnerabilities and predict future environmental responses to our changing world.
